Alan Palmieri, who served as both Jefferson City and Jefferson County Mayor during his political career, died Monday at the age of 74.
Palmieri began his political career on the Jefferson City Council, serving a partial term before running for city mayor, a position he held for five terms. Palmieri then was elected county mayor of an additional three terms. He announced in January of 2018 that he would not seek another term and take a step back from politics to spend more time with his family.

In the private sector, Palmieri worked at Magnavox and North American Phillips in various management positions over 21 years,
He went on to establish Palmieri Consulting, which provided domestic and international services to public and government entities.
A fitness enthusiast, Palmieri wrestled professionally briefly and worked as a bouncer and bodyguard. He began bodybuilding in the 1960s and went on to open his own fitness center, Palmieri Health & Fitness Center. He has written books and trained athletes throughout the years as a natural drug-free bodybuilder. He also trained winners of major local and state bodybuilding events, high school and college athletes and teams, professional athletes and entertainers.
He was a past state president of the International Federation of BodyBuilders.
Palmieri was preceded in death by his father, Angelo Salvator Palmieri. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rhea Palmieri; mother, Adele Setnick Palmieri; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Scott Winstead; son, Michael Palmieri and special friend, David Harrison; grandson, Aaron Winstead; granddaughter and husband, Shelby and Michael Seals; great-grandchildren, Malaki Winstead-Cloey, Lily Seals and Beckham Winstead; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Forrest Palmieri; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Cecil Holdway.
According to information provided by Farrar Funeral 69制片厂制作传媒, he wished for no public gathering, instead preferring a private gathering of the family. In lieu of flowers, he requested donations be provided to St. Jude Children69制片厂制作传媒檚 Hospital.
