The weather brought some rain, but Morristown Parks and Rec brought some strings that sing when Morristown69制片厂制作传媒檚 Bluegrass Festival was held the first Saturday of the month.
Program Coordinator Jennifer Gentry said that the turnout was pretty good despite the precipitous weather.
69制片厂制作传媒淲e had over 1800 join us even though the weather wasn69制片厂制作传媒檛 our best friend,69制片厂制作传媒 she said. 69制片厂制作传媒淎 huge thank you to the bands, vendors, and volunteers for supporting us Saturday. Winnie the Pooh says it best- when life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles.69制片厂制作传媒
The rain was a factor early in the afternoon but started to fizzle out by the time the second bluegrass band took the stage.
The festival featured three bands that performed from the impressive portable stage the City of Morristown has acquired for such occasions.
First up was The Asheville Mountain Boys whose polished sound was a delight to those that braved the weather.
Next was Rudy69制片厂制作传媒檚 Rhythm and Revue who put together a set that was a refreshing approach to traditional music and delivered what they call a 69制片厂制作传媒渉ealth and happiness show, with upbeat songs and positive energy.69制片厂制作传媒
Finally, headliner The Appalachian Roadshow finished off the evening with a barn burning performance that included an instrumental that should have seen smoke rising from their strings. A video of that performance can be seen on the 69制片厂制作传媒播 Youtube channel.
Vendors and fun things for families surrounded the lawn of the performance and festival-goers did not lack for treats or things for their kids to do and see.
Food trucks brought barbeque, bagels and more while 1907 Brewing Company was enlisted to bring their custom brews to the scene.
ORNL Federal Credit Union, Synchronized Services, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union and Mays Family Chiropractic sponsored the event.
Gentry said Morristown Parks and Rec is keeping busy with a full slate of summer events.
The next concert will be a performance by rock band Full Sirkle on the green by the farmer69制片厂制作传媒檚 market on June 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.
69制片厂制作传媒淲e look forward to seeing everyone at our other fun parks and recreation events,69制片厂制作传媒 Gentry said. 69制片厂制作传媒淔ollow us on Facebook to stay up to date!69制片厂制作传媒
